As simple as it gets...
LIVING LIFE IN A CONTROL ZONE OF COMFORT.
Most dogs that have been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis have been treated with a variety of treatments – shampoos, antihistamines, steroids, essential fatty acids, topical creams and sprays, antibiotics, special diets – often in combination. These traditional treatments are often ineffective or come with the risk of serious side effects if used over long periods of time.
ATOPICA provides pet owners with a safe, simple and effective treatment option
that has been proven effective in a majority of dogs. ATOPICA is the first oral
nonsteroidal treatment approved to control canine atopic dermatitis.
PROVEN SAFE
In multiple safety trials, ATOPICA has been proven to be safe and well tolerated when given to dogs at the labeled dosage of 5 mg/kg/day. The most common side effects were gastrointestinal signs (temporary vomiting and abnormal stools). Gingival hyperplasia and oral papillomas may also occur during the initial dosing phase. When the dose is tapered or the drug withdrawn, these side effects are typically reversed.
How to Administer
1. Administer the prescribed dosage of ATOPICA once daily for the first 30 days.
2. At this point, your veterinarian may reduce the dose by decreasing its frequency to every other day, and eventually to twice a week until your - comfort is achieved with the smallest dose.
3. ATOPICA should be given at least one hour before or two hours after a meal.
4. If a dose is missed, the next dose should be administered (without doubling) as soon as possible, but you should not give more than one dose in a single day
Some veterinary dermatologists recommend starting treatment earlier rather than later – before the condition progresses to the point of misery and frustration. Giving ATOPICA at the same time each day can help make therapy a part of your regular routine and avoid missed dosages. It is helpful to closely monitor your dog so you can keep your veterinarian informed of progress or any problems.
